Agarikon was first recognized as a treatment for consumption by ancient Greek physician Dioscorides in 45 AD. Agarikon today is extremely rare, surviving in the old growth forests of the Pacific Northwest, but Host Defense has focused on building an extensive culture library to preserve this species. They offer full-spectrum constituents from U.S.-grown organic mushrooms.
