This formula supports healthy prostate and urinary function and contributes to healthy male sexuality and fertility. Saw palmetto usually takes the spotlight in prostate health, but pygeum and pumpkin seed are also important. In fact these three plants are especially effective when used together. They all contain healthy phytosterols (plant steroids similar to cholesterol) and have been shown to be effective for BPH and other prostate disorders.

Some of the many beneficial qualities of these herbs are saw palmetto’s inhibiting effect on the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase that stimulates production of DHT, a form of testosterone that stimulates abnormal prostate growth and inflammation. Pumpkin seed is very nourishing and rejuvenating to the prostate and testes. Pygeum has a positive effect on bladder muscles and is useful for incontinence and other urinary disorders. It also helps to balance hormones and to prevent the build up of cholesterol and toxins in the prostate gland.

Zinc plays an important role in cell growth and development and is important for the testes because they are continually producing sperm. Copper is a good adjunct to zinc supplementation since excessive consumption of one can lead to deficiency of the other.

The “traditional herbal support” in this formula contains herbs that function as diuretics and have an antiseptic action on the urinary system. They can be effective against urinary tract infections; kidney, bladder and prostate disorders; and have a soothing effect on the mucous membranes. In addition, cayenne improves circulation and has a catalyzing effect on the other herbs.

Some other components of this formula are Vitamin B-6 which has a protective effect on the prostate and the Natures Life Active Aminos blend L-Glutamic Acid, L-alanine and Glycine-the primary prostate proteins.
